Viking Long Seax. Damascus
This is a one-of-a-kind piece, a modern interpretation of a Viking Long Seax with subtle Japanese influence.
The blade is forged from 200-layer Damascus steel, featuring a combined wave and raindrop pattern using 15N20 and 80CrV2 steel, hardened to 60 HRC. The blade inlay is completely handmade and filled with temperature-cured ceramic. The Habaki is crafted from twisted-pattern Damascus steel.
The handle fittings and pommel are made from mild steel. The handle itself is wrapped in meticulously fitted stingray leather with invisible seams. The knife features a take-down construction, finished with a carved mild steel pommel nut.
The scabbard is hand-sewn from 4 mm thick vegetable-tanned leather and decorated with a hand-stamped Viking-style dragon combined with Japanese armor motifs. It is finished with custom-made brass rings and pins.
